The museum of Popular Tradition is located inside the nineteenth-century De Castellotti - Pagnanelli building that, since 1998, has also housed the archaeological museum "G. Allevi", the museum of the Lace and the town’s Picture Gallery becoming, this way, a major cultural centre.

A stroll through history:
Founded for a didactic purpose in 1986 as "Museum of the rural and artisan life" by a few teachers of the local middle school "G.Ciabattoni", and located in the basement of the ex convent of S. Agostino.
The new layout has maintained and completed the original one; the materials on display, in fact, are arranged in a simple way in order to let the visitors understand the background and the uses of every object, accompanied by the dialect denomination.
Materials, layout and didactics:
Section 1
A rebuilt model of an ancient kitchen and its typical utensils.
Section 2 Agriculture.
It starts with the various yokes and traces/splinters to pull wagons, traie and agricultural machinery.
A vast section is dedicated to the different types of ploughs, from the so called "perticaro" to the first mechanical plough.
A room is entirely devoted to the harvest, the weighing and conservation of cereal/corn/grain; another room shows the vine growing and production of wine. Here is kept the old copper and masonry cauldron for the production of the traditional "Vino Cotto".

Section 3 Handicrafts.
Handicrafts. Here you can see the models of the artisan shops/laboratories/studios of the cobbler, the tailor, the blacksmith and the carpenter with the different work-tools.
Section 4 The house.
The house. There are different types of lamps and lanterns, the pitchers, the utensils and household objects for making cheese and the shearing of barley. A small section is being set up to house the items of clothing and the cleaning of cloths.
Section 5 Spinning.
Spinning. Here you can see the many different spinning and spooling processes up to the most recent knitting/hosiery machines, starting from the production and manufacturing of textile fibres such as hemp, wool and silk.

Sector 6 Weaving.
Weaving. The loom and various machines for homemade clothes occupy this last room where samples of cloths of different manufacturing made in Offida over the past centuries are being set.
